THE JACKIE ROBINSON AWARDS DINNER 1982

On March 31, 1982, The Jackie Robinson Foundation hosted the annual Awards Dinner in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, NY. Recipients of the 1982 "Robie" Humanitarian Award are: Drs. Kenneth Clark and Mamie Phipps Clark for their special efforts in [on] behalf of American Youth. The 1982 "Robie" Award for Achievement in Industry is being represented to George Weissman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Philip Morris Inc., for his long-term support of equal opportunity/economic development programs in the minority community.

DR. KENNETH B. CLARK, president of Clark, Phipps, Clark & Harris, Inc., received his Ph.D in social psychology from Columbia University, NY. He developed the Harlem Youth Opportunities Unlimited (HARYOU) program and authored Prejudice and Your Child, Dark Ghetto, and Pathos of Power. Former president of the American Psychological Association, Dr. Clark serves on the NY State Board of Regents and on the boards of directors of Harper & Row, Lincoln Savings Bank, and Presidential Life Insurance Co.

DR. MAMIE PHIPPS CLARK, a graduate of Howard University, received her Ph.D in psychology from Columbia University. With her husband, Dr. Kenneth B. Clark, she co-founded the Northside Center for Child Development and was Executive Director from 1946-79. She serves on the boards of Mount Sinai Medical Center,
