Lesley Williams Douglass is the only Black executive at Northville Industries Corp., a New York based petroleum distribution and terminating company with domestic and foreign operations. As Corporate Counsel, Ms. Douglass handles a wide range of legal matters for oil company, including extensive lobbying in New York and Washington, D.C.

Ms. Douglass' involvement in the oil industry dates back to 1975 when she joined the U.S. Department of Energy's Region II office as Attorney-Advisor. Responsible for prosecuting oil companies in violation of the Department's petroleum allocation and price regulations, Ms. Douglass quickly distinguished herself, receiving the Department's Superior Service Award in 1976. Shortly thereafter, Ms. Douglass was promoted to Deputy Regional Counsel, a position she held until she left government service to join Northville in 1979.

Ms. Douglass' other activities have included an adjunct professorship at the College of Staten Island in New York and she is presently Chairman of the Board of the Association of Energy Professionals and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross of Greater New York. 

Ms. Douglas attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts and Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C.

The only child of the late Samuel & Laura Cooper, a native Washingtonian, graduate of Dunbar High School, received her Bachelor of Science Degree from New York University, majoring in Business Administration. Completed advance education in courses at Howard University and Catholic University in fields of education and guidance. Life member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church and the first woman to serve as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. A member of the Senior Usher Board and Sponsor of the Youth Forum of the same church. A member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, serving locally as Basileus, Grammateus and Parliamentarian of Phi Sigma Chapter. On the National level as Regional Syntatkes and Board Member. As a community worker, past member of the Board of Directors for Iona Whipper Home (Home For Unwed Mothers), the Phylis Wheatley YMCA, secretary of Board of Directors for Stoddard Baptist Home, Consultant for the Friends of Lorton and Church Affiliate Chairman of the NAACP. Served as President of the ICUA of D.C. for 25 years. She retired from teaching at the Randall Junior High School after giving 36 years to this profession.

She is married to a wonderful man, James J. Hawkins, and they have enjoyed 41 years of happiness together. At present he serves as a Trustee of the Campbell A.M.E. Church.

In addition to local community work, 8 years of outstanding leadership was given to Columbia Beach Citizens Improvement Association of Shady Side, Maryland, as its president (Often called the Mayor of the Beach). Many improvements and great strides were made in the development of this Gem on the Bay. Now chairman of the beautification program for the community.
