President & Founder: Herbert P. Douglas, Jr.
Herbert Paul Douglas, Jr., Founder of the Jesse Owens International Amateur Athlete Trophy Award and Vice President of Schieffelin & Co., was an Olympic Medalist in the Long Jump at the 1948 Olympics. He credits Jesse Owens for motivating and encouraging him during his youth to pursue his Olympic dream.

In 1947, Herb dominated the running broad jump at every meet in which he ran.The following year, 1948, two things happened: Herb was named Athlete-of-the-Year at "Pitt" and he become a member of the United States Olympic Team at the games in London, where he won the third place Bronze medal in the Long Jump.
That same drive and determination which made Herb a world recognized athlete has been transferred to his role at Schieffelin & Co., importers of such brands as Hennessy Cognac, Moet & Chandon Champagnes, Simi Wines and other wines and spirits.
Herb had another dream that came true - the Jesse Owens International Trophy Award - that serves to keep alive the memory of that great Olympian whose lofty standards of excellence, dedication, sportsmanship and brotherhood continue to inspire the youth of America and the world.
