Mrs. Shirley Jordan dies at Sinai Hosp.
Wife of Vernon Jordan
Mrs. Shirley Yarbrough Jordan, wife of Vernon E. Jordan, Jr., past president of the National Urban League and a partner in the Washington law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld died Sunday morning Dec. 29, in New York at Mt. Sinai Hospital. She was 48 years old. 
Mrs. Jordan was a graduate of Howard University and was a caseworker and then a supervisor with the Fulton County Department of Welfare until 1965, when she was stricken with multiple sclerosis. 
Mrs. Jordan was active in social and community organizations, serving on the board of directors of Young Audiences, and on the National Committee-Arts With The Handicapped. She was a member of the Links, the Couples Club of Westchester, the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and the Metropolitan A.M.E. Church. A participant in activities of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, she authored articles for "Ebony" and "Good Housekeeping" on her personal experiences with multiple sclerosis. 
Mrs. Jordan is survived by her husband, a daughter, Vickee; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Shedrick Yarbrough of Atlanta; and her sister, Mrs. Darlene Glover, of Atlanta.
Funeral services were held at The Riverside Church, 122nd Street and Riverside Drive on Tuesday December 31, followed by interment at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York. 
In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the National Urban League, Inc.
