Jackson Miss.

Sir
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Communications of 14th inst, relative to Fuel and Citizen Clerk. I shall endeavor to procure Fuel for the Hospital as cheap as possible. In regards to a Citizen Clerk I did not feel justified to retain the services of one beyond this month: (although there is a great deal of Writing to be done in the District, I had already made an agreement to retain the services of my Citizen Clerk, with the understanding, that I would have to discharge him, at the Expiration of the month, which I intend to do. All of which I trust will be satisfactory.
