No of Marriages 2 = $1 00
" " [[ditto for No, ditto for of]] Contracts 1 = $1 00

The Clerk of the Court says he cannot issue License for Freedmen to marry by reason of not having Orders so to do I have visited several localities and lectured to the Freedmen and I find it is having a good effect The idea so prevalent among them that the land is to be divided is dieing out

There has been but one trial this week before the Civil Authorities I was present. It was between a Colored Woman and White citizen in which the Citizen endeaviored to deprive her of a house she had rented until Christmas the suit was decided in favor of the woman

I am
Very Respectfully
Your Obedient Servant
