Edward P. Hatch of Co. "B" 33rd Ills inf. to clerk for me and give Mr. Rogers charge of an Office somewhere, or let Mr Rogers have this Office and send me and Hatch somewhere. Hatch would be very competent to take charge of an Office, is a good man for the Bureau every way but he is the best clerk I ever saw and was formerly my orderly sergeant and I would like to have him with me. I want blank contracts, cant get them at Grenada for less than $15.00 for 300 which is too much. I could sent to Boston and get them for half the money. At the above price I must furnish the paper. So Lt. Johnson writes me. I can sell some old iron and loose bricks left on the "foundry lot" for fifty dollars.
