That he was sent ot his house under arrest for breakfast in charge of Mr. Kibby who while there took possession of his shotgun, saying he did so by order of Mayor Greaves. Mayor Greaves however denies having given the order.

The decision of the Court was that Prince must return to work for Col. Wilburn, force to be used if necessary.

In answer to my question Mayor Greaves evaded stating, if he had authority to make arrests in civil cases, but said, he based his action on that of the Freedman Bureau

I was present at the trial of Zenas, a colored man, in a case similar to the foregoing, in which a similar decision was rendered, and a plain intimation given that Col. Wilburn could deduct from the Wages of Zenas for damages sustained by non-fulfilment of contract

The trial seemed to me partial and unfair, and a cover for carrying out a determination already formed.

Col. Wilburn has repeatedly threatened these men with violence, and it would seem, if for no other reason, improper that they should be forced to return.

I enclose a copy of the writ on which Prince was arrested.

Respectfully submitted
