teams to haul lumber & necessary to properly fix hospital buildings. The Bureau and Civil Authority united in erecting a Post house a mile from the city. When it was about completed some incendiary destroyed it with fire. We are now engaged in building another, but have considerable trouble to procure Lumber. The buildings from Gainesville Junction were shiped to this Post on last evening, but we were not permitted to have a portion of them. Col Yeomans, Commanding Post took possession of them for the 70th U.S.C. Inf. (His orders I believe were from Brevet Maj Genl Force) 

The small Pox still remains with us. We have upwards of thirty cases at present. It is not entirely confined to the Freedmen. The colored population has been greatly diminished in this City since Christmas. The Laborers employed readily. All passed of quietly, and so continues, excepting the difficulties
