Up at 1030A. By the time I was all cleaned up it was time for lunch. The meals are swell here. After lunch Sweed and I walked around the post awhile and then slept the rest of the afternoon. After supper Conway and his friend from the Engineers came over. We had some ice cream at the P.X. and then walked around until 2130E. Said so long and went back to the barracks where where we had roll call and got aboard the bus. everything here is under a blackout. all the cars have black out lights and it's really a hazard to drive at night. We waited about an hour in the bus, then we got aboard the train. What a wreck. It is a narrow gague [[gauge]] and the whole thing looks like a toy compared to our trains at home. The seats were just plain hard wood. I really was a riot. Left St. John's at 2400A. Some of the boys tore the seats off the floor and put them between other seats so they could sleep. What a ride. I'll never forget it as long as I live. I slept very little. Every time I did I would get cramped or the wooden seats would
