AKRON, o., Sept. 26, 1875.
DEAR SISTER ANNIE!
I have been waiting for a letter from you, but as I see you ain't prompt in answering them I find myself compelled to write you the news of our city, which is growing very rapidly and getting every day more after the style of larger cities, as you will see by my writing. When in Cincinnati last, you went round with me in order to show me things worthwhile seeing, boasting of the curiosity of your "Cheap Stores" and wasn't it my wish always that we would have such an one in our midst? And now, to my gratification, I have the pleasure to inform you that at last my wish has been fulfilled. As, since six weeks we are in possession of a "CHEAP STORE" here, just like the ones you boasted of in your city, keeping a full line of Notions and Fancy Goods, ladies' and gents' furnishing goods, woolen goods of all descriptions, toys, jewelry chromos, lookingglasses, brackets, toilet sets, vases, oil cloth, umbrellas, glassware, soaps of all kinds, curtains, stationery, and 1,001 articles more which they are selling strictly at

Also, Barnum's show will arrive here, as understood, the 6th of October, and our Annual Fair will commmence the 28th, four days, which will bring a great many people to our city and to which I hope you will come and stay a few days in order to see our fast thriving city. Yours, MARY

A duplicate of the letter was handed us for publication, Saturday, the 9th of October.
