PASSING OF WALTER WELLMAN RECALLS PIONEER DAYS
News of the death of Walter Wellman, newspaper man, author and explorer which occured at his home in New York City on January 31st, recalled to some of the citizens of York the fact that Mr. Wellman and members of his family were among the early residents of the community and that the intrepid spirit of Walter found early expression in the newspaper game in York. In connection with is brother Frank he published the York Tribune, while still a lad. He is also credited with an earlier effort at Sutton.
Mr. Wellman's father and mother, now deceased were for many years residents of Bradshaw and his brother, Arthur Wellman lived in York until his removal to Madsion, Wisconsin. Walter Wellman visited his relatives here after he had become famous an an explorer.

The new cafe established in the Chambers building on West Sixth street by W.J. Chambers, is now open and ready for business. The rooms have been attractively decorated and complete equipment installed. In the basement facilities for baking and doing the more elaborate cooking processes have been placed. Counter service is afforded and both tables and booths are available for customers. Special attention will be paid to family trade.
