Let me tell you something about a, uh, program that recently was established by the American Humane Association.
[00:06:10]
Called, uh, "Hearing Dogs." What they do is collect dogs from shelters and bring them to a training center in Colorado.
[00:06:22]
They train them to respond to sound, to guide the deaf person to where the sound is coming from. It, it sounds like a door-bell, alarm, telephone, baby crying--
[00:06:43]
it's really a wonderful program. And it's free to deaf persons. It costs about $3,000 to train a dog. And it's a very new program, so many people are not aware about it--of it.
[00:07:01]
Uh, you need a special permit to carry the dog with you anywhere around, whether to the Post Office, or to the airport or so on. And, uh, the dog wears an orange leash.
[00:07:13]
But often you get stopped by police and so on, saying, "You can't bring that dog in here." So you have to show the card, so it's a little bit of a problem.
[00:07:25]
We have invented--come up with a new breed of dog. We don't--that doesn't have a problem like, veterinary medicine, flea problems, no shedding hair, uh, doesn't have to be taken outside. It's really a very special breed.
[00:07:50]
And will be very helpful, I think. Would someone bring the dog?
