Well, Mrs. James Peter Murray, "they say" the take-off, the circling of the field, the approach, the landing (a real, honest, hope-to-die, three point)and the taxi to the hanger were

p-e-r-f-e-c-t!

When I saw that mob of people, and thought of the chances Fuller took of having me flop, then I nearly had heart failure.

Henry said (I am telling you all because I know you are interested) that when they saw the pilot get out, Gene, the barker, grabbed up his megaphone, and said "Ladies and Gentlemen, watch the lady in the ship: she is one of our students and this is her solo flight: the first time - la....dees and gen....tlemen that she has been up alone. Watch her gentle take-off: her steady climbas she circles the field: now watch her landing....what is known in aeronautical circles as t he perfect three point landing. That, la....dees and gen....tlemen, is one of OUR students. That's the way WE teach them to fly: that shows you the safety of aviation!"

THEN, I was thrilled. You see, Ora, they never solo their students in front of any one, if they can avoid it - especially friends or relatives. Mr. Fuller told me yesterday he hesitated on account of Henry, but, knowing my disposition, he let me go when he KNEW it was the right time. NOW, I have to dig hard and fly hard (when I can) in order to get my Government license. Just you keep up your good thoughts, and mamma and I will be up there to see you yet. Won't you, and aren't you, tickled pink?

They gave me my "wings" yesterday night. It was a pin. Someday I'm going to get one of the silver wristlets, though, because I like them so much, and you're always losing the pin.

I just told mamma I was w riting you about flying and she said anyone would know it, because I was so engrossed. I said, well, for her to just wait, and when I flew her up to your place, she'd be engrossed, too.

How is the weather up there? I do hope it is pleasant and comfortable. Take good care of yourself and write soon for I do love your letters.

With lots of love,
