[[Dotted line]]

As you know when I received your letter of March 4th, 1944 and the check which you enclosed, I was at home ill and could therefore do nothing about it. When I recovered and returned to the office, I immediately endeavored to contact you inasmuch as I believed it necessary and advisable for us to arrive at a mutual and correct understanding of the situation, particularly since my view of the transaction appears to be entirely different from yours.

Although for some weeks now I have tried to make a mutually convenient appointment, it has been impossible for you to see me and rather than delay the matter unduly, I am proceeding to have the firm deposit the check which you sent, as I am quite confident that when you are able to see me and I discuss the matter with you, you will see that we were justified in depositing the same in accordance with our view of the transaction which took place last year.

The check is being deposited simultaneously with the writing of this letter, and I am again asking you to be good enough to let me know how quickly you can see me to discuss the matter and arrive at an amicable understanding of the situation.
