BENJAMIN JULES ROTH RUTH SHAPIRO 21 EAST 40TH STREET, NEW YORK 16, N. Y. [[/preprinted]] May 17, 1944. Mr. Georges E. Seligmann Jacques Seligmann & Co. Inc. 5 East 57th Street, New York 21, N.Y. Dear Georges: I have your letter of the 15th, postmarked the 16th, however, which crossed with my note of yesterday, inquiring as to developments in the Baron Cassel matter. The memorandum of your telephone conversation with the Baron was very interesting, and I am inclined to believe that he will make payment of the balance of $300, and that there will be no further talk with reference to litigation. It is too late now to writte a letter with reference to your conversation, since I note it was held on May 6th, in which letter you might have indicated that you were happy to set forth the facts to the Baron and to note his reaction, and ask him to send out a check for the balance. I believe it would be advisable, therefore, to wait until the end of this month, at which time, if the check does not come in, you might write him referring to your conversation with him on the 6th and and say that you were under the impression that, having satisfied him as to all the facts in the matter in your endeavor to convince him of the various points involved, and having gathered that he did appreciate them, you expected to receive a check for $300, which has not, however, come in, and for that reason you are asking him to be good enough to send the same to you. If this method of approach is satisfactory let me know, and I will be glad to draft a letter with you with that in mind, to be mailed, as I said, some time toward the end of this month. Sincerely yours, ^[[Dave]] David S. Galton dsg-g
