February 16th, 1938

Dear Mr. Castano:

Please forgive me the delay in answering your very kind letter of February 11th.

In reference to the paintings which you mention in your letter, it is not quite clear to me whether you definitely want to include the Catena portrait in your forthcoming exhibition, and, therefore, I would ask you to kindly confirm this to me, if you so desire.

As for the Tiepolo, "Madonna and Child" as I think I told you, it is at present on exhibit in the great Tiepolo Exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago which is scheduled to last through March 6th. There is also the possibility that this exhibition might be extended due to its popularity. In view of this, I am wondering, even if the exhibition does close on March 6th, whether this picture would be returned in time for your opening as it always takes a few days after the close of such an exhibition to pack and ship the pictures to their respective owners. I should also appreciate hearing from you about this.

Regarding the photographs of the group of Degas which you saw here, I should prefer not sending you any photographs until I have an opportunity of speaking to you again in greater detail about them, simply for the reason that they have been shown and are rather well known in Boston, and I think it is always wiser not to confuse matters of this kind. Therefore, should I be coming to Boston in the near future, or should you be coming to New York again, we could discuss this matter at greater length and if you have certain specific ideas about any of these pictures, I am sure we could work out something together.
