Dear Sibyl:

I just received your very sweet note of the 22nd and needless to say am delighted that my little gift was so enjoyed. I was somewhat concerned as to the fragrance of the package and was afraid it might upset your slumber and fly out of the window between here and Cleveland. When you are back in town I must give you the address where to get it.

I was worried about breaking my engagement with you the evening of your departure and my conscience is greatly relieved that everything worked out as I hate to do things like that even if it is in an emergency.

As long as I am writing to you, let me tell you that we just bought the most beautiful water color by Cézanne "Mont Ste. Victoire" which not alone is a corker, but also extremely reasonably priced. It would be simply divine in your apartment. I shall try to hold it over til you come to New York and have you see it.

You certainly are very lucky with the weather. It was terribly hot here the last few days; the most glorious autumn I can remember ever having spent in America.

Do remember me to Fred, please. Have a good time, and with many good wishes and kindest personal regards, I am

Always sincerely,

(R. H. Waegen)
