COLLEGE ART ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA
625 Madison Avenue, New York 22, N.Y. • Phone: PLaza 5-0537

November 20th, 1951

Dear Member:

This years Annual Meeting is going to be held in New York City, January 24th, 25th and 26th, 1952, with headquarters at the Hotel Barbizon-Plaza, 58th Street and 6th Avenue, convenient to the Museum of Modern Art, 57th Street Galleries, mid-town restaurants and theatres. The Hotel has agreed to reserve rooms for our members at the uniform prices of $6.00 or $6.50 for singles and $9.50 or $10.00 for doubles. No unpleasant surprises.

Here is the way the program looks to-date: History of Art sessions in Medieval, Renaissance, American, Modern and possibly a new session in Latin American; artists panel on Modern vs. Academic Teaching Methods; an Art Film session with time for discussion; and a joint session with Artists Equity on Studio Problems.

There will be a banquet on Friday night preceded by cocktails. We are making an effort to keep the price down which is not easy as you can imagine.

I do not need to tell you of the events, exhibitions and entertainment which are constantly available in New York. You may be interested, however, in a special program being planned by Artists Equity on Saturday afternoon and evening just after our Meeting to discuss the roll of the artist in contemporary society, national and international.

The UNESCO National Conference will be held in New York this year immediately after our Meeting, from January 27th on, and many of you will wish to remain for some of their programs which are certain to be of interest to our members.

We have studied carefully the questionnaires which you were good enough to send us after last years Meeting and I am sure we can promise you another interesting and stimulating Meeting where you will hear some good speakers, meet friends and find a great deal to do in New York.

Cordially yours,

Henry R. Hope, President

P.S. If you have any suggestions regarding the Meeting or the affairs of the College Art Association, please write me at once.
