FICHE ON CLAUDIUS COTE COLLECTION:
Madame Claudius Cote
11 Rue President Carnot
Lyon (Rhone)
Gailleton 08-95

June 29, 1959,

The collection also comprises a few Pre-Columbian sculptures, terra cotta vases, African sculptures, a whole show-case of Merovingian and Carolingian enamels and gold pieces , -one gold bracelet , very much like a torse--
The majority of them have been dug up around Lyon and other parts of France. Also, vestment ornaments with glass insertions, and rings etc.

There is also a whole group of Majolicas, which include two vrey fine Damascis plates-
some Hispano-maurish of lesser interest-
a couple of Italian plates-

a Corneille de Lyon painting- not in very good condition, which Mme Cote considers to be by Clouet. It was exhibited in 1904.

The major collection however, is composed of Medieval Works of Art, 10 - 14th centuries, which are shown in one large showcase, divided into three parts:

RIGHT SHOWCASE: on the right; is one large Limoges 13thc. plaque, probably part of a chasse.

in the center: a book cover, Crucifixion, 13thc. Limoges

- a few pieces of 12thc. Rhine or Mosan Enamels, among them one oblong plaquette, the only item she thinks would be willing to part with-

: a pyx- 13th c. Limoges of nice quality and in good condition.

CENTER SHOWCASE: in the center: One large Ivory Plaque with lay subjects most interesting, and very fine- is supposed to be the missing part of a casket in the Caran Collection.
