Percy Crosby

September 8. 1945

Dear Mr. Seligman:

Please know that I understand your letter thoroughly and the kindness which prompted you to answer it. If I clowned a little in my letter, it was done to spread a little cheer.

You know, I am sure, that a spirit of friendship for both you and your cousin, René, urged me to present my plan to you before taking any steps. I felt that I owed this to you. I ever felt bad that the exhibition of mine, supervised by you, did not tantalize the on lookers' pocket books. I alone take the blame for that.

If I said or did anything at that time that caused you offense, please forgive it. I was trying to keep up a front before I went down on the mat. Everything cracked right and left right after that last day.
