Dear Mrs. Cutting:

We are organizing an exhibition of "French Masters from Courbet to Seurat" to be held from March 22nd to April 17th, and which will be one of the most important exhibitions of the season.

In addition to an important group of painting we now have and those which will be coming from Europe, we should very much like to complete the group with certain outstanding paintings representing definite phases of the artists' careers.

Having been kind enough to lend us certain pieces of African sculpture for our great exhibition last year, we are taking this opportunity to as if you would be kind enough to consent to the loan of your

CEZANNE  "Landscape"

We will communicate with you at a later date regarding details of transportation and the insurance on your picture, and in the meantime, hope that we may count on your generous cooperation in this matter as your picture would form an outstanding addition and an important link in this exhibition.
