I gave Alexander Liberman his first one-man show in 1960.... A famous physicist said that light brings us news of the universe, and an art critic wrote that Alex's paintings are about this light...Alex says he has been working on the so-called accidental in his painting - on provoked accident where human conceptions are destroyed and one can perhaps find something beyond...I like abstract art because it's an expanding world.
 
I have shown Jeanne Reynal since 1959.......In 1957 I gave Thomas Sills his first one-man show. 

Every week-end I go to Long Island and I am absolutely alone.  I couldn't survive without this.....The wood on the beach, carpenters' and architects' throw-away wood, gets very weathered.  Three's a beautifully weathered quality from the sand and the water and the sun....It occurs to me how to paint them and put them together, these different shapes I pick up on the beach....Art has an element of play.  My studio is the biggest playroom on Long Island.....Time is the essence!  Yet I forget time - I would forget to eat if I hadn't had tuberculosis at one time so I [[underlined]] must [[/underlined]] eat.
