[[underlined]] June 20 [[/underlined]]. Mother went to K.C. last nite - I had a date with John and we drove with Bill to Bartlett - Mother told me not to go - then I wasn't at the train so I know she knows I went. I really didn't mean to at all - but we just did - Rather pepless party - Didn't say hardly a thing all the way back - I do like John so much - its at the stage that I'm wondering if he likes me - we went riding this morning & had such a good time - I told him about Bob taking advantage of my weekness for attention - and saying I must not be getting so much or I wouldn't have written him. He thot that was cute of Bob and remarked that attention was a thing that should never be noticed - which means he probably thinks I resort to feminine wiles to get attention. O Hell. I want him to like me - I just have to go to school some place - scout around a while - before I settle down - rather marry - because I don't want to work.

[[underlined]] June 25 [[/underlined]] Monday - I've been week for the last three days. The day Alice came, Friday, we drove to Edna and drank some of Clarences home products - That evening we all went swimming. I hadn't begun to feel bad there - We came home and John was here - said he that he had a date with me - I rode with him then. We had the best time we've nearly ever had together - We came home shortly - and the next day I was [[underlined]] so sick [[/underlined]]. I haven't been at my best since then. That nite we were going to drive to Bartlett. John called and we said he could go with us - I like John terribly much. We got stuck between Edna and Bartlett. And we walked 2 miles to a farm house together - I was week and nearly swooned. Coming back we recited poetry to each other, he recited [[underlined]] Laska [[/underlined]], and I [[underlined]] The Highwayman [[/underlined]]. Then we got back to the car & I slept till some one drug us to Coffeyville at 2:00. He came over next morning. Russell good was nite date.
