went in.  It was rather unconventional.  Two of them that I was dancing with took me in the kitchen and tried to kiss me - I didn't.  One of them later in a scuffle hit me as hard as he could.  That is one of the few times a man has ever hit me.  I remember last summer when Freddie was over with Vi and Fred & I had a fuss and he hit me - I threw a dictionary at him at he hit me and really hurt me - and Bob was with me & we left - and Bob said it was as much my fault as Fred - because he hadn't been a gentlemen was no excuse for me not being a lady - He was so damn truthful.  I've dreamed about him for several [[strikethrough]] days [[/strikethrough]] nites.  I wrote John while I was in K.C- and he never answered.  Hurt my pride - The letter was a mess - more or less - attempt at wit that was far from reached.  I still think I like him.  He has much more of a sense of humor than Bob but he doesn't understand my faults as Bob does.  I wonder why - damn - Bob.

didn't answer my last letter - Everyone deserts me sooner or later - I have an air of indiference I know - but if I like anyone I sure give them more house than anyone but that person can know.  Few people know tho that i give anyone encouragement - Alice asked me today - if I ever loved anyone - said she couldn't imagine me lavishing affection on anyone - I want to finish school & then marry because I don't want to work.

At Convention I learned from this girl "Bitsie" Craig - rather brot back [[strikethrough]] me [[/strikethrough]] old conservative ideas.  She hasn't been kissed for two years- & at present has 3 pins - she lost one there - a diamond platinum KC pin.  She said Be concieted, say to ur self if he doesn't enjoy my company without kissing me he can go some place else. - and be a good sport but don't smoke & drink with them.  I heard all about the others because I didn't.  They said they got so sick of it
