Ross, whose last name I can't place, went to England a few years later and became a member of the firm of the famous DeHaviland Planes.  [[strikethrough]] Knabenshue [[/strikethrough]]  Unfortunately I lost complete track of him so I cannot append any paragraphs to his success story.

These two men with Martin and I, discussed and planned and built a couple of new models at Griffith Park.  Actually were [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] were the nucleus of the great Glenn Martin Airplane Manufacturing plant which is today one of the nation's leading plane builders.  After a plane was completely built, Martin would take it up and test it.  When he landed there would be much detailed discussion as to whether this was right or that was wrong and why.  Then any alterations that Martin deemed necessary were made.  Then I would take the same plane up and offer my ideas and suggestions which at times were accepted and carried out.  So to the other firsts I like to treasure I modestly add that of being the first woman test pilot.  After all the testing and alterations, when everyone was completely satisfied, then we settled with what we had ... then and only then would Chuck Day draw up the blueprints and the work would proceed on the new model or modifications on an existing one.

My business association with Martin had extended into areas that I'd not planned.  [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]]  It then seemed as though I might be situated on the West Coast for some time to come.  With this in mind I took an apartment in Los Angeles even though I considered myself if not the world's worst cook at least close in that rating race.  I was also a lousy housekeeper.  I was clean to an almost hygenic degree but the idea of doing vast amounts of housework appealed to me not at all.  I was lots more interested in feminine trail blazing.  I had reached the conviction very early that there was more to life than preparing three meals per day and hiding one's light under the nearest grocery bushel.  Remember kiddies this was 1912 and such ideas were not only new in those days but at times downright dangerous with both males and females [[strikethrough]] opposting [[/strikethrough]] opposing them.
