The Coming Balloon Race for the International Cup.
  Mr. Lahm, the father of Lieutenant Lahm, who won the International Cup for aeronauts, has returned to Paris. In our special cables this morning from that city he talks of his visit to America. the preparations for the next race for the cup his son won for America and much else that will prove interesting reading to the constantly increasing and already vast number of people who are closely watching the development of aeronautic sport and science. 

DR. THOMAS FAILS TO COME INTO COURT
Physician-Aeronaut Not Present While Watson Tells What a Contentious Person He's Found.
  When the name of Dr. Julian P. Thomas, aeronaut, was called in the West Side Court yesterday to answer to a summons procured by Warren M. Watson, Dr. Thomas was not present except through counsel. 
  Watson said he was at the head of a construction company in Broadway which had built the helicoptere, that machine of Dr. Thomas' which nearly got him into trouble with the police.
  "Dr. Thomas insists on coming to my shop and raising in disturbance," said Watson to Magistrate Barlow. "He is forever begging me to fight with him."
  Watson said there was some difficulty about payments between himself and Dr. Thomas and averred that when his friend, E. C. Allison, tried to serve the summons Dr. Thomas hit him in the nose. Watson said he had been unable to get a monetary settlement from Dr. Thomas for various work done on the patent machines. 
  The case was put over until to-day.

  Mr. S. Lam, father of Lieutenant Lahm, who won the Coupe Internationale des Aeronauts on September 30, has returned to Paris from America. He said to a HERALD correspondent yesterday:-
  "The Aero Club of America was wise in its selection of St. Louis as a starting point for the next contest. I visited St. Louis a few weeks ago with the Aero Club Committee. We were received in a most cordial manner by the leading business men there.

  The HERALD'S European edition publishes the following:-
  Mr. S. Lahm, father of Lieutenant Lahm, who won the Coupe Internationale des Aeronauts on September 30, has returned to Paris from America. He said to a HERALD correspondent yesterday:-
  "The Aero Club of America was wise in its selection of St. Louis as a starting point for the next contest. I visited St. Louis a few weeks ago with the Aero Club Committee. We were received in a most cordial manner by the leading business men there.
  "We found the quality of gas in St. Louis equal id not superior to the gas supplied in Paris. Its lifting capacity was found to 401 pounds per thousand cubic feet, and the gas company promises even better than that.
  "At a meeting held after the selection of the site I called the attention of the president of the Business Men's League to the fact that each competitor crossing from Europe would be put to considerable expense, and asked him if it would be possible to have some additional money prizes. As the regulations stand it is only the winner who can wipe to recover his expenses.

More Prizes Offered.
  "Mr. Smith replied promptly, and now a sufficient sum has been offered to enable the second, third, fourth and fifth contestants to be reimbursed, either in whole or in part, in addition to the other prizes sure to be offered before the race, and it is possible that prominent Frenchmen, Italians and Germans, resident in the city, will offer prizes to representatives of their countries.
  "While I was in St. Louis an aero club was founded. Nearly a hundred members were obtained right away. I have the
