In various classes, they recited sang & danced for us. The whole school & the teachers were there to welcome us. It was touching. The girls & boys, many of them charming in maroon & white - boys in blue & white. Science, gardening, home crafts, cooking, as well as subjects taught in our Amer. schools.

Lunched for two hours with the Carmans. Was too tired to make a longer visit of it & came home to rest & read till evening.

Evening - dinner for Gerald McCarthy (CARTHY) at the Bryants - a dress affair at 8.- Amb. Gor-Booths, Prince & Princess Diskul (Chinese) Hla Maung with Lucy, Mr. Mrs. Akely (Amer. Institute) Mr. Mrs. Cook, Col & Helen Pettit, Mr. Anderson, Louis, Dorothy & I. 

Lovely evening - pleasant chit-chat Dinner at table with Lucy & McCarthy.

AM - painted Lucy 1 1/2 hrs, then Dorothy's portrait 1 1/2 - Tired - Drove with Louis & Dorothy to the Barber's house for Burmese lunch. Interesting family - Mr. Barber, the old man is Anglo-Burman married to Burmese wife. One daughter married to Anglo Burman Jew - Mr. Goldberg. Maisie, second youngest is graduate lawyer (working in census dept.)

Lunch was beautifully prepared - Lichts, Hauser, Takahashi's, besides the Barber family.

Evening - at 8 - Judson Hall University - Party in honor of Dr. Tun Thin, who was awarded the Harvard prize for world's best thesis last year - 'New Methods for Markets' - in economic field. Gathering of students & western staff of economists. A few students were awarded prizes of 5 books each, for merit - The
