Razel, my darling, you have been with me in spirit, so closely, these last few days. Louis, too. We are all three together - you are both sharing it all with me, my beloveds.

Nat-Hlaung-Kyaung Temple. 10th Century AD. - Old red brick - broken - with grass & weeds growing on its different levels - Ngakywl Nadaung Pagoda - 10th Century AD - brick - painted with Chinese clay - in green color (ceramic).

Patothamya Temple 10 Century AD - Beautiful proportion - pure - ptg. all gone - but the elements of design - Immense white seated Buddha - Finest head, with 2 beautiful smaller seated Buddhas on either side.

Afterwards - a Chinese dinner at the Village Café. Kerosene lamps, everywhere - one little flame in metal container lit which they light thru solitary cigarettes they buy. Stolid faces - all observing us curiously. On the way - we have heard [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] a lion roaring most realistically - it was the sound effects

of the motion picture showing in the local movie house. Since doors are more open - the sound came thru strongly. In the dark, one saw the villagers in single file carrying their babies - all going towards the movie house.

The amusing incidents were the accommodations in the rest house of Nyaungu 2 large wooden tables - on which we spread our bed rolls. (The floor would have been softer.) Then, two pails of water on the verandah outside which I carried into the room, which became a Ladies Turkish bath. We were simply covered with a heavy film of dust - & did not mind splashing the water on the floor since we knew it would dry overnight. Then, on strings in the room we hung towels, wet pillow cases used as mats, etc.

Instead of using the latrine in back of the house, we made use of a small dish furnished us. Before falling asleep I remarked a wide wooden board suspended from the ceiling in the middle
