Trip home from Pagan

waiting. Spent a bit of time reading the 'Second Mrs. Carroll for Jerry' giving him
his cues. No conversation otherwise. Fortunately there is a communal kitchen aboard & most passengers have cooked their rice & curry. Now after 2 big teas & cake - we are succumbing & having rice as well as ordering hard boiled eggs to see us thru the night. Hla Tin speaks English - but the other two Burmese sharing our cabin do not.
The cabin is so small- we will have to pile chairs & tables in a corner with everything else on top to make space for the seven bed rolls.

Stayed up half the night, listening to the lapping of the water - feeling the cool air - & thinking back 19 yrs to 1936, its problems, its joys. Razel still well, Aunt Rachel & her death, the gallery - the painters - my dancing - So many pictures & images to think back to. As Razel once told me, when she took ill - 'whatever happens, I am glad I've lived.' I, too, can say it. In spite of the pain & difficulties - yes it has been rich

7 AM- After a restless sleepless night - we are still marooned here with no idea as to how or when we will be able to leave the boat. Meanwhile, we have our bed rolls
spread out & are all reading away the time.
