their best formals. Bob Nathan & Phil Hauser sat at our table. The entertainment was excellent. The two beautiful dancers - girl & boy from U Win's school danced - several musicians, & two men did a remarkable song & dance with drums (like the Bongo) which they hit with hand, elbow & knee, while dancing & singing. - Remarkable. Came home to rest a while & then at 8.30 to U Hla Maung's farewell dinner garden party.

I was very happy to know the Hacohens were back. As we entered, I heard David's voice calling - 'Anna!' Happy I could still see them before leaving. When we all chose tables I sat with Louis, Hacohen & Bob Nathan & listened to Hacohen's impressions of China. They were both enthusiastic & impressed with what is happening there. Found the people friendly, hospitable &

diplomatic. Tremendously energetic & hard working. Conditions for the workers amazing - schools, music - art - literature - trades - recreation - hospitalization. Mothers leave their work at prescribed periods to nurse their babies in the nurseries - provided them. Food abundant & excellent. Libraries available to the workers - Books on every subject conceivable translated. They are tremendously apt in learning. - David wishes there were more in Israel who can read a blue print as they do in China. Everywhere, in poor streets, behind shuttered windows with no merchandise in shops - tremendous factories & works projects going on. He feels that Mao is the Lenin of the future - and China will be the future problem of the nations - rather than Russia
