Department of the Interior
Merchandise Mart Building
Chicago 54, Illinois

Dear Sir:

The claim filed by the Interior Department to obtain the retirement of Roy Knabenshue, Park Ranger, National Park Service, Alamogordo, New Mexico, with annuity on account of physical disability under the provisions of section 6 of the Act of May 29, 1930, as amended, has been rejected for the reason that total disability for useful and efficient service within the meaning of the Retirement Act is not shown.

If you do not feel that this action is proper you are under the Commission's regulations allowed thirty days from the date of this letter within which to enter an appeal. Any such appeal, if made, should show the claimant's name and post office address, the annuity claim number, the date and substance of the action from which the appeal is taken and the reasons for the appeal and should be addressed to the U. S. Civil Service Commission, Retirement Division, Washington 25, D. C.

A copy of the regulations governing civil service retirement appeals is inclosed for your information.

Very sincerely yours,

Warren B. Irons
Chief, Retirement Division
