Dear Glenn:

I sent off two hundred dollars to the Treasury yesterday, this leaves a balance of [[strikethrough]]$26.87[[/strikethrough]] $260.87.

Just as soon as I can get this paid I shall appeal to the President for an immediate retirement, as he has the power to make my retirement pay anything he may choose, and I shall ask for at least $100.00 per month. I just ascertained that this is possible.

With immediate retirement in view, it will leave me free to go into some other business.

I do not know if I told you, that I had constructed a duplicate of my first airship. We did not have time to talk about much of anything, except the immediate business you were here for, but, I have the complete outfit ready for exhibitions except for some minor details.

As soon as I am free of this job, I shall send for the outfit, and it is possible that I may be able to borrow a truck for the purpose, then I shall attend to the details and start here to exhibit the ship. I have a large tent, will have the ship assembled inside and charge 25ยข admission. It will not be necessary to fly it.

I expect to be able to make enough money this winter, traveling from one military post to another, to buy and pay for a home out in L.A.

I am interested in the books, I would like to send them on to you and have you store them where they will be safe, and where it will be possible for me to get them when I arrive to stay. Let me know if you can take care of them for me.

If I give up this place I will have to store the furniture until I can move it out there, in the meantime Jane and I will live in a trailer right on the job, for as long as we continue to exhibit the ship.

Tuesday, I will have a conference with a man here who wants to become a partner. I will not make any deal with him unless it is necessary, as I am the sole owner so far and do not want to let the ownership become devided, as soon as I am through with the ship, it will become the property of the Smithsonian Institute and will be hung in a prominent place where everyone can see it.

With all the above in mind, it is possible for you to raise the balance of $250.00 and send to me at once, in order that I may get to the President. If I am paid up, the chance of my getting what I want is much greater than if I still owe the Government.

                            Love,
