Mr. C. E. Milliken,
Warner Bros. Studios,
Burbank, Calif.

Dear Mr. Milliken:
                         Story of Wright Brothers.

At the suggestion of Octave Chanute, a noted scientist and early experimenter with gliders, I made a trip to Dayton in 1902 and called on the Wrights at their home on Hawthorn Street, and there met the family.

We had a mutual interest in the problem of flight. They were interested in my experiments in the lighter air field, and naturally I was interested in their experiments with heavier than air.

The Wrights made their first power driven flight at Kitty Hawk on Dec 17, 1903. Orville made the first flight, then Wilbur and so on, making some ten or fifteen flights between them, and flying in a straight course against a strong wind.

The following year on October 25 th, at the ST. Louis Exposition, I made the directionally controlled flight to be made in America and this in a small dirigible airship.

Not only were we good friends, but in 1910 after the Wright Company was formed, I became their business manager. Made all of their flying contracts and supervised the flights.
Orville was very particular concerning all published accounts of their activities, and at times would refuse to be interviewed on account of a mistake made by a reporter. He was particularly fussy in regard to having moving pictures made, and for some years refused to listen to any proposal.

In view of the above brief outline, I believe that I would be of value to your organization, in the production of the story of the Wright Brothers.
                   Sincerely,

                   Roy Knabenshue,
