Mr. Donald Hamilton, of Washington, D. C., had expressed himself as willing and anxious to keep his glider at Big Meadows, and spend his week ends in conducting glider flights for his personal pleasure, and he assures me one other privately owned glider will take advantage of this opportunity and keep their glider at the same place.

Doubtless others will apply for the same privilege.

The annual Glider Meet will be held at Elmira, New York, on June 20, 1936, and will continue for two weeks. At the close of this meet, Mr. Hamilton would like to persuade the various contestants to move their outfits to Big Meadows for some real soaring.

If this feature is properly handled, the National Park Service will receive nation-wide publicity through newspapers and periodicals and through the news reels.

About midway in the field between the Camp and the road leading to Rapidan Camp, there is quite a depression, and during the rainy season is filled with water. This is partially filled with earth but will need to be drained and filled to the level of surrounding surface.

To the left of the Camp is a spring, tile can be laid to this point and the drainage will go on down the canyon. The distance from sump to spring is about 600 feet.

The road leading from the main highway to Rapidan Camp crosses the middle of the field and would cross the proposed runway. This can be obliterated and the road continued from the camp back of the spring and join the Rapidan Camp road at a point east of the spring. See drawings.

The improvements necessary are first:
