Mr. Conrad L. Wirth,
Supervisor of Recreation & Land Planning,
U. S. Department of the Interior,
National Park Service,
Washington, D. C.

Dear Mr. Wirth:

We have recently shipped two (2) sets of rotor blades which needed some repairs, other than balancing. When Mr. Knabenshue was here I suggested that you retain these blades until such time as you needed them and then we would be glad to help you in making the proper repairs. The repair of the various fractures in the plywood covering require a different type of splicing or rework, depending upon the damage to the plywood and its location from the inboard end of the blade. For example, a scarf splice using an internal shell rib is suitable for making repairs to stations on the outboard end of the blade, where the bending flexure is not great; however, near the inboard end of the blade where the droop flexure is great, it is usually desirable to remove the entire sheet of plywood for repairs. I would suggest that you let us know when you are ready to making the repairs to the blades, at which time we will be glad to send suitable drawings and sketches, and if it can be arranged we could send you one of our men who are experts in this type of work, to get your carpenters started off on the right foot. In other words we will be glad to cooperate with you in any way we can.

Yours very truly,
KELLET AUTOGIRO CORPORATION
