Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands,
Headquarters Ass't Commissioner, District Columbia,
Washington, November 21st 1867

Brt. Maj. J.M. Brown,
Disbursing Officer DC.

Major,

The Asst. Commissioner directs that you purchase from H.I. Gregory (50) fifty galvanized iron chimneys for use at Barry Farm. The chimnies cost $3 20/00 each.

In addition to the above number other chimnies of the same quality and price will be purchased from time to time as needed

It is expected that the people receiving them will pay the cost of the chimnies, and the money so received will be used in settling the bill of Mr. Gregory.

Of course if you can reduce the cost in any way, you will do so.

Very respectfully,
Your obedient servant
S.N. Clark
