Respectfully returned to Maj S.N. Clark A.A.A.G. On examination I find that the within work should be put in order by the contractor Mr. J.W. Rumsey.

Mr. Rumsey informed me some days since "he was prepared to make everything right"

and well near the kitchen is very poor it consists of two thickness of boards, the under one on the well is completely worn out being old board when laid down; every rain washes the sand into the well and cistern through the worn out boards in the floors and in a hold [[strikethrough]] near [[/strikethrough]] in the side of the cistern I fear sickness will be the result of drinking this surface water in the well, after each rain there is plenty of water in the well but it does not continue, which makes it plain to my mind that the well is not deep enough for the winter.

Will you please send some disinterested person to examine the well and cistern Mr. Rumsey says they are in good order The ladies think differently

The covering over the well is dangerous where there are children playing

Very Respectfully
