Mother Dear: In spit of the rain yesterday I drove over to St Vincemts hospital on Staten Island with Aunt Sarah and brought Pete and His mother back home. He appeared brighter than I had seen him for some days and we were all glad that we were at Short Hill when the end of the ride came. This morning he smiled his old smile and while I'm still more concenned than I care to admit I think he shows a decided tendancy to be on the upgrade. In the hospital he was wan and lifeless. It was pathetic to see him with his head way over on one shoulder in a set position and his hands resting on the covers in a listless manner. The doctor said his head would turn on its socket again in a few days and that has been borne out in that he uncsciously moved it this morning after we had tried to get him to do so without much success up to last night. he spent a fairly good night with only an occasional murmur. In fact he slept better than I did, and this morning he wanted to go to his chair to eat breakfast. The doctor will come in to dress his wound tomorrow. He has again lost weight and blood so we'll have to build him all over again. But were glad he is home as that is better than hospital where anyone could go crazy. Ruth is peaked herself and she too has to build up again. The Aldworths' have much interest(along with all the more immediate neighbors) and they came over last night. It was a bit early with us all so tired out but I think it did us good. We all sat down to a buffet lunch consisting of the good things left from your Christmas package and we certainly did enjoy the P&C and chicken you sent. Now if we can only get back on a schedule of good sleep we'll be on the road to more happiness. We are working overtime(no pay) to get out job. I've been coming to the field right along and S thought I'd get to Boston by air on one of the test in at Hartford and took off rightaway again so I a chance to talk to you over the phone. I'm going to a party line with out my extension phone. I don't what for a few days but anyone having use the old number I'm sure. That's all the news to working too well so I'll let it go All of us send our love Yours
