May 1, 1935.

Dear Raymond:

Usual monthly statement is enclosed.

Am sorry you were unable to stay over long enough to allow for a little talkie talk about whats going on.

Received notice from Treasury Department at Washington, to effect that we will have to pay $1.00 per thousand on our capital stock which I claimed we didnt have, otherwise, to be paid on our assets. Have consulted agents at Framingham and Boston; both advised me to make the return direct to Washington, [[strikethrough]]from[[/strikethrough]] to sender; they will send the bill of amount due, if any. Have thirty days from receipt of notice to make return. Letter was dated April 19, 1935; received April 21, 1935. The words "Exemption Denied" is written on all three of return sheets; two to be sent, one to be retained for copy. Did not have to pay for 1933, but some new ruling was made during past year, which would tax Trusts, Associations, Estates, or what have you?.

Am still holding the bag for account of Mc Cann. Abdelmaseh. and Brooks.

Insurance on furnishings at Old Colony to amount of $2000. will expire on May 3rd, next. This will cost about $160.00 for five years; The furnishings owned by us is only appraised for $700.00 but, in case of a fire, guests might sue for property destroyed. We are not running the hotel, therefore do not think Trust would be liable. Have not renewed as yet. Please advise.

Expect Mr. Lizzy Knight. to pay his semi annual $120.00 interest.

Do not think I can find the price to motor to N.J. next week.

Best to all,
Your brother,
Bill.
