Dear Billy:

When we looked at the fireplaces in the Kellogg house I rather thought something would have to be done about them so your bad news is no news to me. It has got to be done th though so I hope they make a good job out of it at not too high a cost. Those prices on the oil burener are much lower than I thought you could get for the large size needee to heat that xxx large house. But of course prices have come down since I put mine in and perhaps you can get the desired size for the 250. Seems a shame to lay out for taxes and repairs what you take in. About the same proposition on the OCHouse so far as I can see.

What is the item on Lill--borrowing again and I hear of her getting swell fur coats etc?

Returning herwith the letters from the Ben Franklin.. I never took on smoke damage and don't see the need now. No fires thank you to prove anything about it but after all what do you really get if you have a fire or smoke damage--a lot of hot air on value of what you thought you had burned (because who keeps an inventory anyway) and final settlement in the sweet years to xx come if and when you take what they offer. Kindasour on insurance i sound like.....

As to the amount owed the company--I've just called xx the Newark office and they looked up the cancelled policy and told me what I had figured out on return premium due me--namely $57.56 (On a basis of Nov 18, 1933 to Agust 14 1935 on cost $88.20) Since the new 5 year policy from Agust 14 1935 only costs $66.60 the sifference is only $9.04 and not what the Boston office says. Check is enclosed for that amount and if that is not right you let me know...Thanks for your trouble....

As for H. Bond and his hostelry in Hartford--since I had to go back there again, much as I hated to--I asked for still another room in the same location. I got what I expected--cracked ficxtures in the bath and a layer of soot a mile thick on the wall and ceiling of the room.A cockroach in the room to boot--on the xx 9th floor: And my last meal there was served by a surly son o a b. (until I put him in his place)(he continued to be an sob but gave me some service) and the food was a greasy mess. Enough of the Bond for me The only thing good there is the liquor. Too bad because the hotel situatiojn in that wonderfull town of Hartford cries for a GOOD hotel. Wish I had one or could st art one. By t eway--my room cost $400 single and for that it should have been at least modern according to present standards. How that situation remains as it does through the years is beyond me. Another thing a gentlemean who go s to hartford regularly told me without any remark or bias on my part that he though the Bond was a disgrace to the name of a good hotel keeping but that Harry had a grip that couldn't be shaken loose. So what.?

Uncles etcetera--just too bad I'm afraid. When it is gone will you please take steps to get court OK on our trusteeshi so we can be discharged? Best to ya. Hope all well, your br
