Dear Mr. de Burlet:

Late yesterday the small panel of "The Comedian" was at last delivered to my galleries. It had been held up evidently on account of several holidays. By same mail you will receive my firm's check in full payment of this purchase.

However, may I remind you in this connection of your kind promise to give me the pedigree, if I recall correctly you told me it came from a castle in Germany. I'm afraid that this provenance will in no way help to identify the painting which I gather is unknown in the literature. Nevertheless, I would like to have it as a sort of background. Would you therefore oblige me by indicating it.

This morning's mail brought me to the photograph of your painting representing David attributed to Dosso Dossi. However here again I have no further indication from you as regards it's former owner or whether any or which art historian attributed it to this artist. You no doubt know, how essential such data is in the United States. In this connection may I ask you to remind me of the price you quoted me for the painting as I made no note of it at the time.

When you answer me do let me know also how you are feeling in the hope that the rest you have taken will have done you a great deal of good. With all good wishes and best regards.

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
