January 23rd., 1946.
Dear Sir:
At your sons' request it gives me much pleasure to send you herein, the photograph of the painting by MELCHIOR D'HONDECOETER which he saw at my galleries and thought you might be interested in.
The sizes of the canvas are- 62-1/2" by 49-1/2" , and the over all dimensions, with the frame, are 73-1/2" x 63-1/2".
As usual, the photograph gives but a general idea of the painting and cannot convey the richness of color, nor the strong opposition of masses.
The price is Two Thousdand Dollars ($2,000.) which is an extremely reasonable one in view of the scarcity of paintings of such quality. However, at your son's request, I will make a further reduction, and should you wish to purchase it, I would be glad to leave it to you at Eighteen Hundred Dollars ($1,800.). (*)
This painting has a very interesting pedigree, as it came originally from the Paris part of the Richard Wallace Collection, which, as you knkow, was at the Chateau de Bagatelle, in the Bois de Boulanger.
It goes without saying that this painting is guaranteed to be a Dutch painting of the Seventeenth Century, by M. d’Hondecoeter.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Seligman)
