November 19th., 1934.

My dear Mr. Dehner:

I have just received your letter of November 14th., and had already made a note that the "Puerto Rico Street Corner" was to be called for before 5: o'clock this afternoon.

When our boy went up to the "American Water Color Society" for the picture, he was told that it had been set aside by the College Art Asun., and was not available. I then got in touch with Mrs. McMahon's office, and was told that they had completed their plans to include this in one of their travelling shows, and seeing that I had no knowledge of their interest previously, I really didn't see what choice we had, and consequently, although the "claim ticket" had been sent to us, the watercolor had been turned over to the College Art Asen. The three other pictures submitted have been called for by us.

Very unfortunately I got mixed up on the dates of the Philadelphia exhibition, but I only discovered this when it was too late, and have been intending to write you about it ever since. The fact that they had three dates on their entry tickets was apparently confusing, and it was when I was showing the water colors to Mr. Seligmann that I discovered it was too late to ship them. I hope you will not be terribly disappointed, and am really much more sorry about this oversight than I can express. Mr. Seligmann has, I am leased to be able to tell you, found your work most interesting.

Someone is now considering one of your watercolors and I do hope that before long I may have good news for you which will offset the unpleasant news I have had to write you today.

Yours very truly,

Dept. of Contemporary American Art.
