Dear Miss Saunders:

I am enclosing the material you sent Mr. Séligmann and which, as you will see, has undergone a few alterations, as well as some crossing-out of sentences - advisable for one reason or another.

Though Mr. Séligmann went over the material, he had to leave without being able to write you himself, but asked me to express his thanks to you for your very kind lines and good wishes.

From what he said I gather he expects to receive from you a draft of the completed article, which I presume will include parts of the interview not used in "News-Week" together with the material from subsequent interviews. He seemed to recall having seen in New York before he sailed, parts of the interviews with him and with Mr. René for this article, as well as that with Mr. Levy, but you will understand his desire to see the material in its entirety as you intend submitting it to "The New Yorker".

Mr. Séligmann will be in Paris all of September, prior to his return to New York early in October, and he will give your draft his immediate attention when it reaches him, and will return it at once.

From your letter, you seem to have had a wonderful time in Virginia - though possibly not the "rest" which you spoke about before leaving. In any case I can say I almost envy you, as I too have had some marvelous times there.

With my own best wishes, and expressing Mr. Séligmann's appreciation of your kind co-operation,

Yours very sincerely,

(Theresa D. Parker)
