ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH GOODS ARE ACCEPTED FOR SHIPMENT

BEKINS VAN & STORAGE CO.

First: By consignment of goods in care of, or delivery to, the Bekins Van & Storage Co., herinagter called the Bekins Van & Storage Co., and consequent of this Freight Receipt, it is expressly agreed that the following conditions are accepted by Consignor or the Consignee, their agent or agents.

Second: That the Bekins Van & Storage Co. is to act only as Agent for the Shipper and not as a Common Carrier.

Third: That the value of the goods does not exceed Ten Cents (10c) per pound, and that the Bekins Van & Storage Co. is authorized to declare the goods covered by this receipt to any Railroad Company, Steamboat Company, Transfer Company or other Agency necessary in the transportation, transfer or handling of the shipment, at that value.

Fourth: That the Bekins Van & Storage Co. will not be responsible for any loss or damage while goods are in transit; but the Bekins Van & Storage Co., as Agent for Shipper, will file claim for adjustment by the Railroad or other Transportation Agency for actual loss not exceeding ten cents (10c) per pound of articles lost or damaged.

Fifth: That the Bekins Van & Storage Co. will not be responsible for loss and damage of goods by fire or otherwise in excess of Ten Cents (10c) per pound while in its own care, or in cars while being loaded or unloaded, or in warehouse awaiting shipment or delivery.

Sixth: That claim for any loss or damage must be presented within thirty (30) days from date of arrival of shipment at destination. All particulars and proof of loss or damage required by Railroad or other transportation companies to be furnished by claimant. If goods are placed in storage, claim, if any, must be made before storing.

Seventh: That goods are accepted subject to the Railroad Companies' classification in effect for second-hand household goods or emigrant movables, and that same are not for sale or speculation. If any goods are delivered to the Bekins Van & Storage Co. which do not properly come under such classification, the Consignee must pay any increase in charges resulting therefrom.

Eighth: That to enable the Bekins Van & Storage Co. to make reduced rate for the Shipper, goods may be held at the Bekins Van & Storage Co.'s Assembling Station to complete carload lot to destination or distributing point, but that no charge for storage us to be made against Shipper during that time. 

Ninth: When goods are shipped from some point at which Bekins Van & Storage Co. does not maintain an office, and where signature of Consignor cannot be obtained to this receipt, the signature of Consignor affixed to original freight receipt or bill of lading will be accepted as Consignor's authority to Bekins Van & Storage Co. to place a declared valuation of ten cents (10c) per piund on the goods while in transit and it is expressly agreed that no claim for any cause shall be present on higher basis of value. 

Tenth: That if goods are placed in storage the charges of the Bekins Van & Storage Co. must be fully paid before goods are stored. 

Eleventh: This freight receipt is NOT NEGOTIABLE.
