A pair of charming paintings of the French School of the 18th. Century, by J. B. MALLET (1759-1835):

A - "Le Perroquet Cheri"
B - L'amour Filial"

A. "Le Perroquet Cheri". In a delightful interior, a young woman clad in a black corsage and white skire, wearing a white bonnet, stands and kisses a parrot. Another young woman, in a golden striped dress, is seated in a chair opposite her. On the far side of a table on which are sheets of music, one sees a young man leaning against a mantel contemplating the scene.

11-5/8" high x 8-3/4" wide.

B. "L'amour Filial". A young woman, clad in white, stands while her child embraces her hands. In front of her, her husband is seated taking his breakfast.

An Inkstand of the Louis XVth. period, in ancient black lacquer ornated with motifs of flowers, composed of three wells in old soft paste porcelain, of Chantilly. It rests on a gilt and chiselled bronze mount, supported by four feet.
