Dear Mrs. Dillman:

As you may have heard, our friend Hans Waegen has been extremely sick with an attack of pneumonia and has had to leave New York to recuperate in the South for several weeks. He has requested me to write to you in connection with a matter of such importance in the art world that he felt you should be posted about it.

I am referring to the auction of the collection of the late Mr. Henry Walters, Vice President of the Metropolitan, being sold by his widow. Mr. Walters was a man of amazingly good taste and knowledge and when you look at the beautifully illustrated catalogues, of which I am sure you have received a set, you will realise what a magnificent group it constitutes. As you will see a very great number of these works of art come from this firm, so that I am naturally well versed regarding them.

Hans wished specially to call your attention to the exquisite, small FRAGONARD "Blindman's Buff" - one of the most delightful paintings by this great artist and also to the impressive marble bust of VOLTAIRE by the great HOUDON. There are also of course other beautiful things which could interest you, such as the FALCONETS, CLODIONs, etc.

I would, of course, be only too pleased to be of help to you in this matter and as I may be going to Detroit next week, should you be there I would gladly drop in and discuss this with you.

Hans of course wanted to be remembered particularly to you, and

With personal regards,

Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Séligmann)

P.S. As you may still be in Florida, I am sending a copy of this letter to both of your homes.
