Dear Mr. Seligman,

I have had another chat with my client who is interested in the two Hall portraits, and although I cannot get him to come to your figure of $30,000 he has agreed to pay you £7,000, inclusive of all commissions. I do not suppose this is going to help you in this difficult affair, but I feel that it is my duty to pass on the offer.

The times have now changed somewhat, and possibly the owner might consider taking a little less.

With kind regards,

Yours sincerely,

Clifford Duits
