Dear Mr. Duits:

Answering your letter of March 26th, you are perfectly correct to assume that the two portraits by Hall were purchased many years ago by my Paris firm, I recall them vividly.

It is my belief that they have changed hands several times since I originally sold them to a New York Collector. In view of your request I am trying to trace them and should I succeed in locating them, I shall be happy to advise you accordingly.

If, in the meantime, you could give me a vague idea, without being binding in any way, of the price your client would be willing to pay for these, it possibly would avoid a waste of time, as the present owner, whoever he may be, and should he be willing to sell, might have much higher ideas of values, than your client.

With best greetings,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
